The Durer Rhino was a woodblock print done in 1515.

As the story goes,an Indian Raja sent the King of Portugal an Indian Rhino by ship which sank off the coast of Italy. A traveler saw the rhino's body washed up on the beach and described it to Durer. From that verbal description Durer scribed his famous woodblock.

I tried to match Durer's image in three dimensions and had it cast in bronze which just came back from the foundry.

My bronze sculptural version of the Durer Woodcut - 1515 is back from the foundry and available now. details…
