Pocket Side 3/4 View Here you can see a side leg in addition to the two front ones. There are two in back and one more under the briefcase facing forward. Art historically, this is a nod to 7th century B. C. Assyrian art, specifically the Gilgamesh figure who was a fierce warrior who carried a purse like bag. His legs pointed sideways. He was bas relief on the bottom and the top was full rounded sculpture. Carcass: The carcass if four surfaces that flare slightly at the bottom. Each surface is slightly dished as well. The corners are ebony with brass trim and the field tiles are maple. I brought this into my computer to generate the lines and get the most efficient use of the space. The board on the bottom is for protection only and not part of the piece. Hand in Pocket: I served in the Marine Corps. The powers that be had a big problem with people putting their hands in their pockets. So naturally I put hands in pockets as a small reminder of my experience. Wrinkles: These wrinkles are slight but they accentuate the movement of the piece. |
